plasma tv trouble

I bought a 42" Phillips Plasma, only had it 3 months when it quit working, techs have been out today will make 4 times and have replaced 3 boards in tv. In the mean time I have called Phillips and they are no help at all. Was told my warrenty is good for 1 year so they will keep trying to fix it until that runs out then I'm on my own. Can anyone help, or have any suggestions?

RE: plasma tv trouble

go to the store you boght it from and raise holy hell, or depending on what you bought it with, some credit providers offer services where it can be "returned" through them, kind of like a second fiddle lemon law. More realisticly it is a secondary warranty that is established by purchase with, possible, other avenues of resolution. In situations like this, due diligence can vary from state to state, but in this case if you wanna go that far, based on the sheer number of "failure events" or rather the number of times they have already "fixed" it, most reasonable ppl would see the product as defective.

Most likely the letter of the warranty states repair or replacement at that company's discretion, but that doesn't mean they can keep doing this. Talk to your credit card company first. Amex has very consumer weighted options in situations like this, almost regardless of the product. You might want to go and check consumerreports.com to see if there are known issues.

RE: plasma tv trouble

Thanks for the info I did as you suggested and wow I got a new TV. They said it wasn't because of what I said but because that is what they do. I don't really care it worked calling the store I bought it at and now we have a bigger and hopfully a better tv.

Thanks again
